I don’t understand Luke 14:26

Please briefly explain why you feel this question should be reported.
I read a scripture this morning that says, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters–yes, even their own life–such a person cannot be my disciple” – I don’t understand. Am I supposed to hate myself and my family?
