My brother and my husband don’t get along

I am the middle child of 5 children. I have 2 older brothers and the fourth and fifth siblings are female. I’ve been married for 3years now and my husband and I dated for about 14months before we got married. Sadly, my oldest brother whom I admire so much has never liked my husband. I really want them to get along, as it always gets uncomfortable when we have family gatherings. Sometimes my husband will simply refuse to attend just to avoid my brother. Any advice, please?

Your older brother most likely loves you very much and has probably always been protective over you. Your brother might have some misconceptions about your husband because he doesn’t know him well and hence doesn’t trust him. My advice is that you first of all pray and commit the situation to God, He can fix it and also ask God for wisdom. Second, have an honest conversation with your brother and find out what the problem is and work at correcting his wrong notions about your husband without being pushy or appearing to take sides. If they both love you don’t worry they will come around by God’s grace
